In which direction are you moving? Are you advancing toward your dreams, or, are you retreating? I think it’s important that in whatever circumstance we find ourselves in, we are moving towards those dreams. There may be brief seasons of not being able to due to circumstances beyond our control, but the general direction of our lives should be towards those dreams.
Why does it really matter? It matters because those dreams inside of us are more than just about me or you. Those dreams are also about the people we will help, impact, and influence as move towards our dreams. (more…)
Identity Under Pressure June 25, 2009

How are you in pressure situations? Do you remain true to who you are? Or, do you kind of lose yourself? I sometimes find it difficult to remain true to who I am. I don’t like conflict. I have a tendency to just let the other side win. There’s a place for that. But, it is not always the best choice. How do I know when to stand or when to get out?
I don’t think there is a clear-cut answer to that question, but I do think there are principles we can work into our lives that will help us make the best choice in the heat of the moment. I gleaned these principles from watching one of my favorite movies “Anna and the King”. It’s based on Anna Leonowens move to Siam in the mid-1800s and the influence she had in that country. Although there is controversy surrounding the accuracy of the film, there are principles within the film worth looking at. (more…)

There are three kinds of people. Those that are chasing after something, those that are running from something, …and those that are standing still. …The world opens up to those that are standing still. -Moses, a character in the book “Bad Ground” by W. Dale Cramer
I read this quote recently and it has caused me to ponder… Is there truth in what this character shares in this fictional story? Are there three kinds of people: those that are chasing something, those that are running from something, and those that are standing still? Possibly we fit into each of these groups at different times in our lives, but where do we spend most of our time? (more…)

Do not ask yourself what the world needs. But ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that. What the world needs is people who have come alive. -from “Dare to Desire” by John Eldredge
How alive are you? Are you alive with passion and zeal? Or, are you dying, overloaded with burdens and worries? Are you soaring while living out your own script, or are you barely getting by while living out someone else’s script for your life? (more…)
Living on Purpose April 9, 2009

Are you living on purpose? Or, are you just living? There are seasons we go through where it feels like were are just living, but if that becomes the norm, we are all missing out. You are missing out on the originality of you and we are missing out on your originality.
How do we live on purpose? There are books that deal extensively with this topic, but let me share some thoughts I’ve gathered over the years.
Pay attention to you. What drives you? What makes you smile? What makes you excited about life? These feelings and thoughts are a part of your originality and help define your purpose. (more…)

I see many people with incredible dreams inside of them—great dreams, purposeful dreams—but they get stuck. And in the midst of being stuck they give up a little bit of those dreams. Then they give up a little bit more and a little bit more till they become settled in ‘seemingly reality’. And, we all miss out.
You see, I think those dreams inside each of us have a lot to do with our purpose and why we’re here. Our dreams are like seeds planted inside of us meant to be watered and nurtured and grown—grown to fruition. Then, and only then, will we not only experience fulfillment within, but those around us will greatly benefit. It is my hope that this blog, through our discussions and interactions, will help all of us in the process of watering, nurturing, and growing our dreams.
